American Idol is one of the biggest moneymaking shows around, bringing in an estimated $1 billion revenue every year. So when Jennifer Lopez was announced to appear as a judge next season, you knew there was a significant payday coming. According to sources speaking to People magazine, Lopez will earn $12 million for serving as a guest judge.
However, the $12 million comes as a bit of a defeat for Lopez. The star had hoped to also win a few other concessions from Fox, including movie and TV development deals, as well as input (and some said final call) on other judges. Fox balked, the deal nearly fell apart, and Lopez had to settle for $12 million.

Lopez will be part of a whole group of new faces at the judges table. Simon Cowell has already left the show, as has Kara DioGuardi. Guest judge Ellen DeGeneres will also not be returning. New faces showing up this year could also include Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who has said he will "probably" appear on the show.
